Forward (2025) album by First Day Back
ive always loved a raw sound especially if it sounds like its coming from 2003. the female vocalist delivers a deep resonant and angry performance that feels refreshing against the soft or whisper singing in the indie scene currently. happy to say that the Santa Ana native band seems to be a rising talent due to their micro-tour of 3 sold-out LA dates at both The Lodgeroom and The Roxy. I personally am crushed I did not snag a ticket, but I am happy for their success.

Feels Like Summer Split (2025) collaboration album by stella and The Ritornello Form
another stripped back record sounding straight from 2003. this is a collaboration album between stella and The Ritornello Form. i never heard of either artist until stella came on my Lefty by Title Fight song radio. this album and these artists have such a unique and almost un-identifiable sound with their use of record scratches and nu-metal elements specifically in “wannabe”. the contrast between the vocals of the two artists keeps this project super light and playful. I am super excited to see and hear where this/these artists go.
